About Guangzhou
Guangzhou — known historically as Canton — is one of China's oldest and most prosperous cities. As the capital of Guangdong province and the heart of the Pearl River Delta, it has been a centre of international trade for over two thousand years, welcoming merchants from Arabia, Europe, and Southeast Asia long before modern globalisation.

October–April for cooler, drier weather. Summers are hot and humid; the Canton Fair (April & October) brings large crowds — book accommodation early.
Cantonese is the dominant local language; Mandarin is universally understood. English is widely spoken in hotels, universities, and international business districts.
Chinese Yuan (CNY / RMB). Mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) are ubiquitous. International cards accepted at hotels and major venues.
Guangzhou Metro is extensive, modern, and affordable. Taxis and DiDi are plentiful. High-speed rail connects to Hong Kong (47 min), Shenzhen (30 min), and Beijing (8 hrs).
Most foreign nationals require a Chinese tourist visa (L visa). Guangzhou also benefits from the 144-hour transit visa-free policy for eligible nationalities.
